All About Memory
Memory plays a major part in our mental functioning. It is an essential part of who we are. If changes in memory are affecting your relationships, you will be interested in this course. It will cover the following key questions, and more:
- Memory: what is it?
- How does it work?
- How can we improve it?
You will also discover:
- which parts of the brain are active during mental activity;
- the different types of long and short term memory, and what they help us do;
- how aging, changes in body chemistry, and illness can affect memory;
- how improving health can improve memory;
- which activities can enhance brain function, and which can be detrimental;
- the connection between emotions and our capacity for remembering.
Practical advice and information will be interspersed with entertaining in-class exercises.
The course is offered through Loyalist College, Picton campus.
Dates:
Tuesdays, September 09 to October 14, 10 am to 12.
Location: St. Mary Magdalene Parish Hall, 335 Main Street East.
Wednesdays, September 10 to October 15, 6 to 8 pm.
